Peter Blair

Peter has played violin and viola for over 21 years, French horn for 15 years, and began teaching in ’99. Though grown up, he has hardly left his childhood behind, and his infectious joie-de-vivre can be seen in his teaching. He sees music as something to enjoy and that can help anyone develop their character. He is interested not only in teaching music, but also in helping all of his pupils to grow as people.

For Peter, the teacher is also the student; ever improving and ever learning from both successes and failures with students. As teacher, student and musician, he is constantly training and striving to improve himself. He is both a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas as well as Suzuki Musique Montreal, and on the pre-school and daycare group side, Peter is a Music for Young Children teacher as well.

Other artistic ventures for Peter include involvement performing on and off with the Montreal West Operatic Society (a non-profit group supporting the Montreal Children’s Hospital) since 1995 and writing among other things, children’s stories.

When not teaching, he can be found meeting with a church in Pincourt, where he is often occupied in the simultaneous translation of sermons from English to French or vice versa.

Ruth Boisvert-Blair

Ruth really enjoys the interaction that she has with her students. She is always delving to find what helps motivate her students to achieve their goals. Musical enjoyment is ever at the forefront of her thoughts; she’ll gladly teach a student who plays solely for their own enjoyment just as much as one who seeks to attain a professional performance caliber. She seeks to impart her pleasure and passion for music to young and old alike, believing that every individual can learn and love music!

In 2000, Ruth obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Performance with honours/distinction from McGill University. Since then she has continued her training regularly through select teachers, institutes and workshops.

She is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, Suzuki Musique Montreal and Music for Young Children.

Along with her musical pursuits, which include playing piano for her church and singing for various special events, she is an avid reader, loves to have fun with her children, husband and friends; she also volunteers as a support and resource person for Nourri-Source (a breastfeeding support group).
